December Calendar Notes

Hello Summit Parents!

December is usually a very busy month for LCC. The holiday season finds both groups with differing concert schedules which can be confusing to some families. The directors sent home a note before the Mini-camp listing the December schedule. I have posted each group separately with corresponding ticket information. I hope this will clear up any confusion.

December 1 from 6:30 - 7:00 p.m.
Call at 6:15 p.m. at 6th and Main Street

The City of Longmont has asked us again to sing at the Lighting of the Tree on Friday evening. Students should wear their LCC sweatshirts and may wear hats, mittens, scarves, and anything else they need to keep warm. If it is really cold, we will certainly wear coats as well, but please layer under the sweatshirt if possible.

December 2 from 12:00 - 1:00
Todd Skaw of Guitars, Etc. in downtown Longmont has asked us to be a part of his program to encourage families to stroll the downtown streets and enjoy the holiday decorations. Details of where to meet and call time will be given later.

December 2 Mormon Chorale at 7:30 p.m.
Call is at 6:00 p.m.

We are guests at this concert held at the Church of the Latter Day Saints at 17th and Alpine (same church where we hosted the Czech Republic Choir). If your family wishes to attend this concert, you will need to purchase tickets from the Colorado Mormon Chorale. You may call 303-937-9370 and leave a message indicating you wish to attend the Longmont concert and the number of tickets you want. You may also order from their website, www.coloradomormonchorale.org. Individual tickets are $5 each, family tickets are $25, and will be held in 'Will Call' at the door. Each chorale member received one complementary ticket at the rehearsal on November 6. If you did not receive one, please contact Jackie, Laughlin_Jackie@stvrain.k12.co.us.

December 8 Dress Rehearsal at around 6:30 p.m.
This is the dress rehearsal for the Longmont Chorale concert at the First Congregational Church, 1500 9th Avenue in Longmont. Exact time will be announced at a later date.

December 9 Diane Stowe Concert at 10:30 a.m.
Call to be announced later.

We have sung at Diane Stowe's holiday brunch at the Raintree Conference Center for many years. The Conference Center is behind the main Raintree Hotel on Industrial Circle.

December 9 Longmont Chorale Concert at 7:30 p.m.
Call at 6:45 p.m.

We are also guests at this concert with the Longmont Chorale at the First Congregational Church. If you wish to attend this concert, you will need to purchase tickets from the Longmont Chorale. They have created a special LCC Family Pack for this one concert that MUST be ordered using the form that was sent home with the note on November 6. Family Packs will not be sold at the door. Jackie will be collecting the order forms on Monday November 13 and November 27 to be delivered to the Chorale. After that date, you will need to make your own arrangements with Dale Van Zant at 303-678-8534. If you need another copy of the form before the 27th, please contact Jackie right away.

December 12 Parent Concert at 7:00 p.m.
Call to be announced later - including the Dads!

This is our free Christmas concert for parents which features the Dads (brothers, uncles, grandfathers, etc.) singing with the kids. It will be held at the First Congregational Church, 1500 9th Avenue.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

S'Cool Fundraiser Delivery & BYU Concert

Dear Parents,

Please remember that those families that participated in the S'Cool fundraiser must pick up their orders at Westview Middle School on Monday, November 6, at 6 p.m. If you can not be there, PLEASE make arrangements for someone to pick up your order. We do not have a way to store items that are not picked up.

Jerry will be set up with all the items near the choir and band rooms. If there is room in the hallway, he will be there, or in the foyer near the main entrance doors. If you are worried about keeping the items before delivering them, Jerry said that the only items that must be kept frozen are the butter braids. The other items can stay outside in your car overnight since the nights have been around freezing. The cookie dough is OK to refreeze if necessary.

New calendars were sent home with the kids on MOnday, so please check your child's notebook for it. The date updated is October 27, 2006. Those families who were absent will be sent a calendar in the mail. The concert with the Colorado Mormon Chorale on December 2 will be here in Longmont at the Mormon church on 17th and Alpine. This is the church where we hosted the choir from the Czech Republic. The church office there has asked us to let our member families know of an opportunity to see the BYU Young Ambassadors in concert. They will be presenting "Broadway Rhythm" at Vance Brand Civic Auditorium in Longmont on Saturday, November 18th. It is a Broadway style review featuring music from many classic Broadway shows. Tickets are $10 each and available with your credit card at http://www.YAs-Longmont.com. This is the only show they will be doing in Colorado so get your tickets soon! I have noticed some ads in the Daily Times-Call for the concert. They are a world-traveled group of young muscicians, singers, and dancers from Brigham Young University and put on a great show.

Thank you & Reminders

Dear parents,

Thank you so much for your support last night. We had plenty of food for all that were there. You are an awesome group of parents! I also want to thank those families who hosted members of the choir. These visits from other choirs provide wonderful opportunities for our member families. You have a chance to meet other kids who love choral singing and, as in this case, learn of other cultures. The concert performed by the Czech choir was incredible. I am thankful that both Esprit and Summit were able to hear it. I am sure that the Czech girls (and boy!) were touched by our portion as our kids made them feel welcome. The LCC staff and board appreciate how everyone stepped up in volunteering to host this group.

Now to some reminders. Many of you turned in your fundraising packets last night. If you have not turned yours in yet, please contact me at 303-774-6304 or cell 720-394-7774 and arrange to get the packet to me right away. I will be turning the order in to Jerry at S'Cool Services on Friday.

Please remember that there is a Parent Meeting on Monday, October 30, at 6:30 in the band room at Westview. This is where Esprit rehearses. Summit and Esprit parents are to come at the same time. The meeting will focus on our Gala fundraiser in February. The tentative agenda is:

1) Background of our fundraising efforts
2) Presentation by Gala Committee Chairs on each of their committees
3) Parents selection of committee to serve on
4) Committee break-out
5) Esprit parents will be excused & Summit will receive an update on tour

We will be asking some of you to consider switching committees since a couple of them do not have enough people to serve. Also, we ask that your LCC member and any other children stay with you for the meeting or be supervised by another adult.

Fundraiser & new concert

Hello everyone!

I hope you enjoyed the concert Saturday night. Both choirs did a wonderful job. Thank you for coming and bringing family and friends.

I just wanted to remind those families who are participating in the S'Cool Services fundraiser that you have one more week to sell items. The order sheet and payments are due to me at next Tuesday's rehearsal on October 24. If you know that you will not be at that rehearsal, please call me, 303-774-6304, to arrange a time to deliver the orders to me. I must have the orders turned into Jerry at S'Cool before Friday, October 27. If any of you need extra copies of the order sheet, I will have a few at rehearsal Monday, October 16. It sounds like we have some good sellers out there! Good job!

The Artistic Directors have added a new concert in December. The owner of Guitars, Etc. in Longmont is sponsoring a Christmas celebration for 5 Saturdays starting November 28. He has asked if our group would sing some Christmas carols on one of the Saturdays. Esprit & Summit are sceduled to sing on Saturday, December 2 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. in the downtown area of Longmont. This is a great opportunity to be visible within our own community. This will be added to our calendar, which will be mailed at the next billing cycle. So, please mark your calendars at home with this event. Details will be provided as the event gets closer.

Summit parents, please remember that the $300 deposit for tour is coming due in November. You will be mailed a separate invoice and payment agreement for this amount. Look for these documents in the mail in the coming weeks.

Upcoming Concert Notes

Our first concert titled “We Are the Children” is just around the corner on October 14. We hope that you are encouraging friends and relatives to come. This concert is one of our ticketed concerts. Prices are listed on the website at www.longmontcc.org. Tickets can be purchased at the door, at TicketsWest in King Soopers or by calling our business office at 303-774-0990. The Board of Directors will be offering a season ticket package to the public for the last two concerts later this year.

We realize the financial commitment you already have to the organization. Therefore, the Board of Directors has set a special season ticket price for LCC families only. The package price is three concerts for the price of two and you must purchase the package to receive the discount. The package price is only for the immediate family of the LCC member. The LCC Family Season Ticket prices are:

$20.00 Adults
$16.00 Seniors/Students
$10.00 Children 12 & under

The package will be available at the door for this first concert. You will need to identify yourself as an LCC family to the board members taking ticket money. Please make your checks payable to Longmont Children’s Chorale.

We provide high quality vocal training and performance experience for our choristers. We also expect devoted and hard working members willing to work up to their full potential. Therefore, we would appreciate your help ensuring that your child is rehearsing their music at home during the week. The once a week rehearsals do not provide enough time to learn the music at a level we expect from our members. All music for both groups must be memorized by Monday’s dress rehearsal. Just a note about the dress rehearsals, your child does NOT need to wear their uniform.

October Calendar Reminder

Our annual fundraiser is 5 months away and we have some committee details to take care of. The new calendar was mailed today and shows a Parent Meeting scheduled for Monday, October 30, after rehearsal at Westview Middle School. The meeting is to finalize the Gala committees and explain other Gala information. We are in need of volunteers to chair or co-chair the Decorations Committee, Food Committee, and Publicity/ticket Committee. Each chair will have a corresponding board member to assist & guide them. If you are interested, please contact your choir director or me. The Silent Auction committee is also in need of a few more volunteers. We will be asking for some of you to consider changing the choices you made on the volunteer form. Please be thinking about where and how you can serve on a committee. Summit families will also receive preliminary information concerning tour.

Out last Parent Meeting had some unsupervised children who made messes in the foyer of the school and caused the janitorial staff to do extra cleaning the next morning. The school district has provided an amicable agreement to use the facility, and we do not want to jeopordize that. Therefore, we ask that your LCC member and any other children stay with you for the meeting or be supervised by another adult. Thank you for your cooperation in this area.

Please remember that rehearsal this week is on TUESDAY, OCTOBER 3 at the regular time and place.
